I wish I knew this little communication tip sooner...
It's made a big difference when my kid is upset...

Howdy,
You know those days when your kid is just not having it?
“I hate the park.”
“This food is gross.”
“Today is going to be the worst.”
Your first stop is usually to try the logical approach:
“Come on! You’re set for an amazing day!”
That usually ends up just adding fuel to the fire.
So, here’s something you can try instead…
Today, we have:
1. Parenting thing: A little communication tip when your kid is in a funk.
2. Business thing: Bill Gates and Warren Buffet step into a room…
3. Internet thing: Let’s blow your mind about space exploration.

1. Parenting thing: A little communication tip when your kid is in a funk.
Here’s the simple idea…
Align with their narrative.
If they’re telling you how bad their day is going to be, hit them with:
“Oh ya? Like how bad??? Are you going to get stung by like a million bees? Or are you going to fly off the swing and get eaten by a monster???”
Instead of trying to be rational, join in on their thought process.
This gives them the space to realize they’re probably overreacting while being emotionally supportive.
Pretty Jedi-like, eh?
And it’s further proof that your kid only does the opposite of whatever you want. 😄
2. Business thing: Bill Gates and Warren Buffet step into a room…
In 2005, Bill Gates and Warren Buffet are presenting at a conference.
Gates asks him…
“How do you make good decisions during tough times?”
He says:
“I can afford to lose money, but I can’t afford to lose a shred of my reputation.”
How does he practice this belief?
The newspaper test.
Whenever he’s faced with a tough choice, he asks himself:

It’s the ultimate way to put things in perspective.
If you do this, you will always model high-quality behavior for your kids.
3. Internet thing: Let’s blow your mind about space.
