We tried a new thing for bedtime and I couldn’t believe how well it worked.
Just wish we would have done it sooner...

Howdy,
6 months ago: Bedtime used to be a mess.
Now: it’s one of my favorite things to do with our 4-year-old.
Here's one simple tactic we stumbled on…
Today, we have:
1. Parenting thing: We tried something new to fix our kid’s bedtime routine and I could’t believe how well it worked.
2. Mindset thing: Perfection only exists in one place.
3. Internet thing: The self-awareness on this kid is impressive.

1. Parenting thing: We tried something new to fix our kid’s bedtime routine and I couldn’t believe how well it worked.
When our son turned 3, the wheels totally fell off the sleep bus.
It was meltdown city every night.
We tried everything but had no luck. Until we read an article…
It talked about how it’s normal for kids to have a tough time remembering things. Even routines they follow every day.
And when they don’t know what’s coming, it causes angst. Angst leads to meltdowns.
Visuals can help a lot with this.
And make it easy for kids to keep track of their progress / see what’s coming.
That gave us the idea to create this…
A visual bedtime planner.

There's no longer any argument over the number of books or brushing teeth. Plus, he loves grabbing the marker and crossing things off the list.
This changed the game for us.
2. Mindset thing: Perfection only exists in one place.
You know the feeling of dread when you get out of a hot tub and it’s freezing outside?
It’s jarring. Your skin tingles.
Now imagine you’re in an ice bath and it’s the same temperature outside.
Instead of dreading getting out, it’s relief. The freezing air outside doesn’t feel cold because your skin is numb.
This was my experience this morning.
When I took a warm shower after, man, did it feel sublime. Like better than usual. And, that got me thinking….
Most things are out of your control:
Market conditions, people’s behavior, algorithms.
The biggest thing that’s in your control? Perspective.
How do you get a better perspective? Do stuff that humbles you.

These sorts of activities also create a renewed appreciation for the little things (like warm showers).
Perfect conditions don’t exist.
Perfect perspective is yours for the taking.
3. Internet thing: The self-awareness this kid has is impressive.
He’s more in tune with this body at 5 than most adults I know…
Whenever you're ready, there are 2 ways I can help you:
