Stop being misled about parenting.
1 lesson from the longest-running study in human history...

Howdy,
If you were forwarded this email, subscribe here:
In March 1946, a team of ambitious scientists tracked 13,000 children born in just one week. Their mission?
To unearth the defining factors behind a child's long-term success.
Little did they anticipate this would blossom into the most extended study on human development ever conducted.

What was the biggest learning?
And what’s the most important takeaway for you?
Let’s dive in…
Outside of being born into poverty, one factor predominantly determined a child’s life trajectory:

I know. This isn’t a huge shocker. But, here’s the crazy part…
Playing Mozart in a kid’s crib didn’t make a difference. Only a handful of basic things did:

Most of you are likely nodding and thinking, “Hey, I'm already doing this stuff!”
That’s great.

It's hard to see a 1% improvement daily, but it's happening.
What’s your takeaway?
Parenting is stressful enough.
No need to follow 157 influencers and read every parenting book (which offer conflicting advice) to 'figure it all out.’"
Keep it simple. Focus on the fundamentals.
That's where the magic happens.
Your weekly knowledge drop
Ever had one of those days where your little one is just...not having it?
“I hate the park.”
“This food is gross.”
“Today is going to be the worst.”
You might try a logical approach: “Come on! You’re set for an amazing day!” But if you’re like me, that usually ends up backfiring.
So, try this instead…
Align with their narrative.
If they’re telling you how bad their day is going to be, hit them with:
“Oh ya? Like how bad??? Are you going to get stung by like a million bees? Or are you going to fly off the swing and get eaten by a monster???”
Instead of opposing them, join in on their thought process.
This gives them space to move to the other side of the conflict without forcing them
Pretty Jedi-like, eh?
And it further proves the cold-hard fact that your kid only does the opposite of whatever you want. 😄
Quote of the week
Rick Rubin is a legendary music producer.
This quote is not at all about parenting. It’s about the creative process.
But man, does it ring true for everyone raising kids.
“I think it’s shocking every time how bad things can be on their way to being good. It blows my mind. It’s like when someone’s solving a Rubik's Cube, and it looks like they’re so far from solving it right before they solve it. When you’re in the middle of something—you listen to it, and you’re like, ‘tomorrow, this might get amazing, but today, it’s so bad.’ The exciting thing is that it’s every time.”
P.S. 😂😂😂
P.P.S. If this was helpful, take 1 minute to forward it to a friend or family member. It takes me 2+ hrs to make.
See ya next week!
